==================
Not really....not anymore. Money doesn't always motivate positive and lasting work performance. What would you say
about a study that revealed that a pay raise has a positive impact of LESS than two weeks?
This doesn't mean that money isn't important. It is! We ALL
need money. Money just isn't always the way to motivate people to do a better job. Nowadays, most of us want more than a paycheck.
What Do People LOOK For?
** Interesting --- and very "thought provoking" work. ( Brain Food )
** Broad, Honest and Open Communication
** They want the chance to Grow, Expand and Develop NEW skills.
** People desire to be treated like human beings ( They
demand respect & dignity. ) They hate being just one of your numbers.
** People want involvement. They long to BE a part of
something with meaningful tasks!
** People have to feel that their contributions DO make a difference.
** They desire "some" Fun while working.
** People love to be recognized for a job well done. How do
we accomplish this? Why not give them a pat on the back? Recognition, cards, notes, praise, lunches and gifts are all great ideas too.
I'm sure that most people will agree that motivation gets favorable actions repeated. We MUST take the time to recognize those who excel. Motivation re-inforces desired
behaviors. People desire to be appreciated. How appreciative are you? Make it count.
