If you're ready to take the great jump to initiate a new internet career, you might be missing critical steps. This
also applies to those marketers with "rusty" skills.
The first thing you need to do is review your own set of
skills. If your previous training was lacking, you probably need updating. You need a mentor to help you keep up with the rapid changes in business.
You might have worked in another organization. Take note that transferring to another group may require some enhancements. You should try to broaden your experience with
a company that has vision, focus and is going to be more sophisticated.
If you're doing O.K. in your present company, setting your
sight on an advanced position, do some serious self-evaluation. Ask people who work in the company to answer your questions.
Rumor and gossip can kill your chances to better yourself. This is a necessary step that can't be skipped if you want
the truth. People who have reached successful levels in their fields, but who have never managed a staff of workers,
might have to look within themselves, to decide if their leadership and listening skills are proficient. Use common sense, do your homework and inquire. If you don't ask
questions and take the plunge, you'll stagnate in your field.
Remember this.....if certain skills are missing, like
interpersonal communications and calm staff-management skills, you'll be doomed. Just because you're good in one set of job functions, doesn't mean you will ever be
successful running an entire operation.
It takes very special "take-charge" people to deal with the
heat. Take a good look at people who have long standing success in their field. What skills can they offer you? To increase your competitive standing look for training,
internship and a qualified mentor! Expand your skills with people on the move!
