Are you relentless when it comes down to contacting hard to reach people? Anyone that you didn't have a chance to speak
to, certainly deserves another call. These may not be classified as top priority calls but you should contact them
nonetheless. You never really know who could instantly decide that they do need your product. They could sign that big deal on the dotted line!
There are a lot of excuses you can use to follow up with someone, it's just a matter of finding the right one for each contact. Call or email the person for different
reasons. If your prospect gives you feedback, be sure that you respond to it. Once you've moved on to the next step,
follow-up should always be related to the next step in your relationship, with the contact person.
If your follow-up message or phone call unleashes a problem
between your company or product and theirs, your efforts should be towards solving the problem or referring your client to your company's customer service department.
Make sure your client's problem has been resolved by your company. Next, call or email your client again. Follow-up
to be certain that everything is working properly.
If your company did make a mistake or is taking to long too
solve this problem, follow up with an email or call, with your apologies and your assurance that something is now being done to solve the problem.
If the relationship with your client is being jeopardized by a nagging problem, make sure you apologize for all inconveniences. In some cases, as part of your sales
prospecting techniques, it may be a good idea to send a consolation gift.
Make sure that the price of your gift is in line with the
extent of the mistake, or try to customize it to your prospect's likes. The gift should be sent immediately; no delays. Remember, great customer service translates into a
happy client and better referrals, that can also translate into better sales.
