12 Ways to Get Ideas For Your Business
How to get ideas for website content, a report, or even an
ebook:
1. Take part in chat rooms, forums, etc., dealing in your
particular niche and watch what questions are being asked.
If enough people are asking about a subject, or aspect of a
subject, there is a potential market.
2. Participate in email discussion lists related to your
subject and find out peoples concerns, questions, etc.
2. Check on websites like Yahoo Ask, see if people are
asking questions related to your subject.
3. Ebay's Items Wanted section can reveal if people are
seeking things related to your subject. Can you supply
their needs?
4. Listen to the daily news, watching tv, news broadcasts,
even chat shows, documentaries. It is amazing how often an
idea related to your online can be sparked.
5. Time of year. Does you subject change, or evolve, over
time, or at specific times of year? Can your subject be
related to the holiday season, for example.
6. Run a survey of current customers or website visitors
to see what they would like to see added to your site, or
what they feel would be of help to them.
7. Do you have a guest book on your website? This is
great for visitors to leave comments, ask questions, etc.
This can spark an idea for an article, a report, or more.
8. Keep a file of the questions, etc., you receive via
email, etc. Individually they may not seem of particular
use, but over time a pattern could well develop.
9. Is there a fad evolving related to your subject? Or
elsewhere that could throw a different slant on your own
subject? How can you relate it to your own work?
10. Check the best sellers list of bookstores, both on and
offline. They often provide good subjects, or new angles
on subjects, for you to write about.
11. Check printed magazines relating to your subject.
They are good sources of ideas relating to a vast variety
of subjects.
12. Keep up to date with new aspects of the internet, for
example the latest social network craze, and find a way to
either fit it into your subject, or a way for your subject
to make use of it.
